We interviewed several custom cabinet shops in the East Bay. None inspired the confidence of Old World craftsmanship and service that Karl Sr. and Jr. of Hayward Cabinets did. Meticulously installed by Karl Jr., we received compliments about the fine installation from each successive contractor that worked in the kitchen. Clearly Hayward Cabinets made every detail that followed work easily. By the way... their bid was the same as other custom shops that made cabinets but didn't install, allowing for possible finger pointing. This is a family business and you can expect the whole family to take care of all the details and produce beautiful cabinetry.

We can whole-heartedly recommend Karl Heuken and his son Karl who has custom made our kitchen cabinets (2002), our bathroom vanity, and built in stereo cabinet and under-the-stairs cabinets (2004), and now cabinets for our master bath remodel. Everything they've done is top quality, and perfect. Our contractors agree and have recommended them for other jobs. The price and materials have always been excellent. Karl Sr. has been making cabinets since he was a teenager and he's in his early 70's now and still going strong. I don't know about his other kids, but judging by Karl Jr. he's a good dad too.
