I was taken to Tanjia for my birthday and what a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The atmosphere was fantastic as was the service! It was great because we didn't feel rushed as many restaurants make you feel. The evening was very relaxing, each entry was amazing! The food was out of this world! The lentel soup was so delicious I could have eaten only that, but luckily for me I went with a 5 course dinner that was so tasty and I loved the intimacy of sharing with your date. It really was an evening that I will always remember. Later in the evening a beautiful belly dancer danced. She was so good! Not only was she beautiful, but she had a great personality, flirting a little and eye contact with the audience. I will certainly visit this restaurant again! On a scale of one to ten I would rate it a 9 1/2......the one thing that I would change is the use of towels for napkins. I think it would be nice to have beautiful cloth napkins rather than towels that have seen their day! Thank you Bruce for a wonderful evening!!!! XOXO
Pros: Entertainment, food, ambience
Cons: Towels for napkins. Get some nice Moroccan cloth and make napkins!
HORRIBLE! Reviewed by nmohns1 on

Last night I had one of the worst experiences at a restaurant ever. The food was okay, not great, and the ambiance was very nice. That?s where it ended.
Tanjia?s advertises ?Belly Dancing Nightly!? The belly dancer, who was very good, only danced for a half-hour, and then was out the door for the night. How lucky we were to have gotten there right before she started!
The horrible night, was served cold to us by our waitress, also co-owner. She was extremely rude to us. Further, 10-20 minutes would go by without us even being checked on. The place was not busy at all.
The website and menu advertise that ?fresh mint tea? comes with every meal. I was shocked to see a $9.00 charge to our bill for two pots of tea. When I questioned this, she replied with hostility that the complimentary tea referred to was a smaller ?dessert tea.? We did not even receive any dessert tea with our meal nor were we offered any.
We wanted to split the $98 bill, and place $40 of it on a credit card?nothing unusual. We told the waitress this, yet she gave us a hand-written the charge for $98. I reminded her that I asked for $40 to be put on the card. She yelled at me saying (twice), ?Well, you should have given me all of the money then!? She refused to change the credit charge until I showed her the other money that we had set aside to give her. My friend tore up the copies of the incorrect handwritten charge, and the waitress yelled at her, ?Why did you do that! We could have used white-out!? I don?t know what games this woman was trying to play, but we ended up paying all in cash, as we were very nervous what this woman could do with the credit card. I frequently eat out, and have never had been demanded my cash along with a credit card. Further, I have NEVER been treated so rudely and with such disrespect.
Pros: Ambiance
Cons: SERVICE! FOOD!

An evening to Tanjia is like being transported to another world half-way across the globe. From the low tables and cushions, Grade A service and food, to the live entertainment...it's an event you won't soon forget. Great night out for larger groups of friends. Highly recommended!
